THE COOL KIDZ

Friday, August 15th, 2008

The Cool Kidz are a Hip Hop Duo out of Chicago, strong on the scene and putting out that quality Hip Hop the industry has been missing. “In case you don’t know”. I saw them a few weeks ago on Kimmel and they twore it up. Justin Timberlake even introduced them and I could tell he diggs them too and they gained my support and respect then. I’m Lacing you up with a few hot beep bop holey moley donut shop heat. 1st is a track they did on Kimmel i got in my ride now Called Pennies. The 2nd link is to download their mixtape THATS STUPID also available on their myspace page. WALLA!!!

Short Dog’s in the House (Hiphop 101)

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

VIA:TMOD

First and foremost, big dookie dope shout goes out to House on this footage. Basically a Magic Johnson bounce pass that enabled me to go in for the easy lay-up a la James Worthy or Coop.

This footage is nuts. Too Short in 1990 talking about his lyrics and their subversive nature with a big ass grin almost the whole time. He has definitely rapped the exact same way about the exact same things his entire career. Kudos Short, we here at themeaningofdope appreciate your consistency.

The Hit Squad Tour Video Pt 1 (Hiphop 101)

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

VIA:TMOD

This is definitely one of the illest clips I’ve ever seen. First off, EPMD talking about what they saw in Das Efx before signing them and why they have so much confidence in them. Then, interview footage with Das Efx and a super fidgety but silent Redman in the house.

The real gem here is all the concert footage. Das’s stage show looks very thorough from the looks of it. This show was in Buffalo in 1992 from what I can gather, and the crowd is not only gigantic but VERY amped. Can you imagine a bunch of girls getting down to the Pete Rock Jussumen Remix in a club today? Damn. That and the cross section of hip-hop fashion at the time. Mad rugbys, denim jackets, timbos, etc were in full effect.

Dj Revolution “King of the Decks” Album out September 16th

DJ REVOLUTION “KING OF THE DECKS” ALBUM IN STORES SEPTEMBER 16th ON DUCK DOWN RECORDS

DJ Revolution has spent 15 years perfecting that craft on the SP 1200. He’s currently behind the wheels of the longest running Hip Hop show in the history of commercial radio, “THE WORLD FAMOUS WAKE UP SHOW alongside Sway & King Tech.

As DJ Revolution readies “KING OF THE DECKS,” in stores on September 16th, he divulged further on the issues of the lack of communication between the MC and THE DJ stating that it “is one of the most obvious reasons Hip Hop has devolved so drastically over the years. Since MC’s in general decided to toss aside the DJ as an asset and integral part of their success from production to performance, the music has suffered tremendously. My goal is to re-introduce to the world what a DJ is. He or She is not just a celebrity, or someone who plays records, or makes funny sounds with turntables. He or she is all of that and more. I recruited some of the most legendary and also most talented up and coming artists to help me express all of this within the context of the music.
